ZetaSafe welcomes Mark James to the team

ZetaSafe is delighted to welcome Mark James to the team. Mark brings with him over 30 years sales and marketing experience at Nalco/Ecolab and will be an asset to our business development team.

mark-james-zetasafeMark gained a degree in Chemistry from the University of Nottingham in 1986. After university he spent threes and a half years working for ICI in the research and development of agrochemicals at Jealotts Hill in Berkshire.

In 1990 he moved into sales with Nalfloc, ICI’s water treatment company, selling cooling water chemistry and water hygiene services to facility management customers and major office complexes in the City of London. 18 months later Nalfloc was bought out by Nalco and Mark was moved up to the North West of England to work on a more industrial client base dealing with tyre manufacturers, breweries and hospitals. In 1999 he became the District Sales Manager for the North West of England managing a team of 11 sales, service and administrative people based out of Nalco’s office in Northwich, Cheshire.

In 2003 Mark moved from sales into marketing to join the newly formed Environmental Hygiene Services division of Nalco dealing with institutional customers across Europe. During his time in EHS Mark worked closely with Fineapply and latterly ZetaSafe on both the Electronic Logbook and then on EnviroTRAK in order to build a market leading offering for Nalco in Legionella control. His EnviroTRAK role was a mixture of development, technical support and sales, and included doing major sales presentations for Nalco at the football grounds of Manchester United, Manchester City, Bolton Wanderers and Aston Villa along with Headingley cricket ground. During this time Mark specialised in marketing to the government and education segment for several years leading Nalco’s relationship with the Office of Government Commerce (later Buying Solutions) based at the Liver Building in Liverpool.

In 2007 Mark took over ownership of all of the water hygiene for Nalco across Europe and helped to prepare that business for sell off by tripling the profit on the business across one year.

In 2010, following Ecolab’s buy out of Nalco, Mark was asked to be a founder member of the Nalco Innovation team. In this role he was responsible for leading a team of innovation managers who were responsible for identifying new product needs, building suitable solutions, trialling them and then preparing them for commercial launch. In 2016 he had a $17M per year target for innovation sales. He worked on new product introductions in water pre-treatment, cooling water, waste water, boiler water, chlorine dioxide generation and latterly paper manufacturing. At the end of 2016 Mark accepted an offer of redundancy from Ecolab in order to take a little time off and explore the job market for a new challenge.

Mark is 52 years old, he is married to Sally and has two daughters, Rebecca and Natalie, who are both currently at University. He lives in Nantwich in Cheshire and his hobbies are cycling, walking and making beer. He is a keen follower of rugby union, cricket and football.

Mark is very pleased to be joining Zetasafe and hopes to have a long and successful career with the team.
